Dr. Sarah Bollinger holds a Doctorate in Social Work (PhD) from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from New York University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has over twelve years of clinical experience, culminating in her roles as the Clinical Director at Change, Inc.’s Nashville, TN location and as Assistant Professor and Program Director of the Undergradute Social Work Program at Trevecca Nazarene University. Before beginning her doctoral training, she worked as a therapist at St. Francis of Assisi Counseling Center in New York City, focusing on issues related to spirituality and women’s empowerment.
Also during her time in New York, Sarah had the privilege of working in hospice care and cancer centers, assisting individuals and families with the process of illness, grief, and loss. These experiences led her to a deeper understanding of the beauty and fragility of human life, and the importance of love and connection as central to the human experience.
Sarah writes about her life experiences at her personal blog.
“My hope is that I can accompany you on a journey toward articulating and living out those things that bring you to life. Many times this process involves working through the impact of loss, pain, and various forms of oppression. I feel passionate about giving voice to those things that keep us from being most alive and walking through them in a safe, supportive, and therapeutic relationship.”
Favorite Quote from Rev. Howard Thurman:
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
